The short version

We use essential cookies and on-device storage to make the site work and to remember your preferences. We use optional analytics only if you accept. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies, and we don't sell your data.

Cookies and localStorage, explained

A cookie is a small file a site stores in your browser. "localStorage" is similar on-device storage that stays on your device rather than being sent with every request. Both let a site remember things between visits — like whether you've already answered the cookie popup.

What we use

  • Essential (always on). A small record of your cookie-consent choice, plus anything strictly needed to keep the site secure and working. Without these the site can't function properly.
  • Optional analytics (only on accept). If you select "Accept all" in the cookie popup, we may use privacy-respecting analytics to understand which guides are useful and improve them. Choose "Reject non-essential" and no analytics runs.

Browser storage for your preferences

Your consent choice and any tool settings are saved in your browser's local storage, on your device. The cover checker and health checklist use this to remember your inputs locally — that information stays with you and is never sent to us.

Google Fonts

We load typefaces from Google Fonts. This doesn't set advertising cookies, but it does mean your IP address is shared with Google when fonts are requested. You can block third-party requests in your browser if you'd rather not.

How to control cookies

You can change your choice any time by clearing this site's data in your browser, which brings the consent popup back. Every major browser also lets you block or delete cookies and on-device storage in its settings. Blocking essential cookies may stop parts of the site working.
